Scope of Works

The Bank Station Capacity Upgrade (BSCU) project was designed to increase capacity to accommodate future passenger demand at Bank/Monument Station, deliver journey time savings, provide step-free access to the Northern line and DLR, improve interchange between the Northern, Central and DLR lines, and enhance emergency fire and evacuation measures. GS Foam Concrete supported this major infrastructure project by supplying a bespoke lightweight foam concrete, providing an efficient, low-load backfill solution that helped meet the project's requirements.

How we did it

Delivering foam concrete to the infill locations required a specialist pumping methodology utilising staged pumping. The system involved using our own RoLine concrete pump positioned at ground level on Cannon Street. From there, the foam concrete was pumped 30 metres down the access shaft before travelling 100 metres along the existing platform via 100mm steel pipework to a Putzmeister SP25DHF. The SP25DHF then transferred the material a further 400 metres to the infill point, pumping a total distance of more than 530 metres.
Through careful planning and utilising our expertise GS Foam Concrete successfully completed this logistically complex project safely and efficiently.
